here is a PERFECT example. when the pants are too big and unflattering on the model, it is time to rethink the cut.
look how they slouch and gather under the left cheek. perhaps it is the pose she is in but IMO, they don't seem to fit/lay right.
See, I think that's a perfect fit. I wouldn't wear pants any tighter than that to work--maybe out, but I don't want butt-cupping pants to work. I am 5'2" and before the wedding was a size 4 and did get quite a few pants at Limited Too. Mostly sweatpants and work out pants, because I do have hips and many of the kids pants are straight up and down and don't allow for any curves.

I like Liz Claiborne petite.
My biggest complaint is that designers seem to assume that if you are short and thinish (i'm a size 4) that you must be built like a boy. I have hips and a booty.

i live for the old navy girls dept - the size 14 or 12 jeans fit me pretty well and are not long at all

i don't like tight fitting pants either but these just seem too bunchy on her. too many creases. again, it could be the way that she is posing.

Re: Petite Girls -> Where do you shop?
just looked at the ae site. and can someone explain to me why petite women's jeans/pants have a 30" inseam and yet the shortest men's length is 28"??? ***? shouldn't that clue them in that petite women need a shorter inseam? i seriously don't get where they get this 30-31" inseam for petites. and 99% of companies have it. i'm hard pressed to find one with something shorter.
sorry, rant over. i'm not that skinny, though i'm much shorter than you so i don't have as many problems with overall fit, just length. i mostly shop at gap or for dress pants at ann taylor or alfani brand at macy's.

That bugs me too. I usually see 29 as petite insem. I think I am about a 28, so 29 is ok, for me with shoes.
I was in Filene's Basement & I don't remeber the brand, but I saw pants that were petite AND had different lengths. So, you could get say, an 8 short, or an 8 petite short, which were smaller all over & probably a little shorter or an 8p, that would be smaller , but not short.
I tihnk Dockers has that too actually for kahakis. I bought some in Kohl's a few years ago & I was a 12 short inseam or a 14P regular length inseam! So their petites were defintely smaller, not just shorter.

Re: Petite Girls -> Where do you shop?
ok, on a whim i thought i would give banana reoublic another try. i picked out about 7 pairs of pants (different styles) all in a size 0 and they were HUGE. some were bigger than others but NONE if them fit. i was actually wearing an older pair of martin pants in a size 0 and i showed the saleslady the difference. FINALLY someone admitted that their pants run big and you have to buy a size smaller. HELLO, as far as i know there is nothing smaller than a 0.
either these companies have to start making their pants true to size or start marketing negative sizes.
